France travelled to Rome in the opening round of the 2013 RBS 6 Nations having only won two matches in the 2012 Championship.

However, within the first four minutes, Italian captain Sergio Parisse crossed for his sides opening try after a 2 metre break from fly-half Luciano Orquera.

France were quick to hit back and after some quick ball from Maxime Machenaud and a cut out pass from Frédéric Michalak, powerful no.8 Louis Picamoles barged his was over from close range.

The try of the match came in the 34th minute as France ran nearly 60 metres with winger Benjamin Fall profiting from some nice hands to dot down for a try.

However, a second half try from Martin Castrogiovanni and a drop-goal from Kris Burton as well as a solid Italian defence was the difference and the home side held on for a famous victory.
