Ireland rose to the occasion on their first-ever appearance at Lord's, but ultimately fell short after a typically belligerent 72 not out from Jonny Bairstow. The partnership of 140 between Joe Root and Eoin Morgan ultimately put England out of sight, despite a fast start from Paul Stirling and a battling 82 from captain Will Porterfield in Ireland's chase.
