Undefeated world middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin returned to a Southern California boxing ring for the first time in over two years.  Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs) faced two-time world title challenger Vanes "The Nightmare " Martirosyan (36-4-1, 21 KOs), from Glendale, Calif.  The 2004 Olympians fought on Saturday, May 5, under the stars at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.  The middleweight title fight was televised on HBO.

The telecast opened with Cecilia "First Lady" Braekhus (34-0-0, 9 KOs) defeating Kali "KO Mequinonoag" Reis (13-7-1, 4 KOs) in a world female welterweight championship rumble.
