Is Dean Ambrose Retiring?

Dean Ambrose has been on the WWE main roster for almost 7 years now. Since debuting with The Shield at Survivor Series 2012, Ambrose has gone on to tremendous individual success, having won the United States Championship, Intercontinental Championship, Tag Team Championships and even the WWE Championship. He was the first superstar drafted to SmackDown in 2016 and is the only Shield member to have won a straight up triple threat between the three wrestlers. However, despite all these accomplishments, Ambrose is very clearly the worst off from the three wrestlers of the shield, the other two being Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. After a horrible storyline direction for his character after his return from an almost 9-month injury lay-off, WWE announced Dean Ambrose will not be renewing his contract and will leave the WWE. But why did WWE announce that Ambrose won’t be re-signing with the company? Was it to lessen the pain for fans? Or is this all a work by the WWE?
