Romelu Lukaku’s return to Chelsea this summer is a big moment for both club and player. It comes almost ten years to the day that he initially signed for the Blues from Belgian side Alderlecht as an 18 year-old. It also follows a two year spell at Inter Milan in which he rebuilt his reputation, hitting the best form of his career after a disappointing end to life at Man United, where he had seemingly lost his touch.

But this isn’t the first time Lukaku has had to bounce back from adversity in his footballing journey. His first spell at Chelsea ended in disappointment too, and the striker has continually had to prove his doubters wrong from an early age.
