Craig Breen & Ray Breen, Father & Son Rally Legends, MG Metro 6R4 Group B & Ford Escort WRC Anti-Lag

This video is dedicated to Craig Breen & Ray Breen, two rally legends. It's always nice when father and son are still in business, just like the Petter and Oliver Solberg. I had the pleasure of filming the Irish drivers during the recent editions of the San Marino Rally Legend. Craig raced in the awesome 1997 Ford Escort Cosworth WRC from KMB Motorsport, Bastos livery, R2 MEM license plate, chassis 27. The car was used by two rally axles, Armin Schwarz in 1997 and Patrick Snjiers in 1999. People surely did not remember how incredibly powerful the anti-lag is on this car, which is also equipped with two side exhausts, personally, together with the Fabia WRC, the most "powerful" in terms of sound among the cars of that era. It is equipped with a 4-cylinder 2-liter Turbo engine; it develops 300hp at 5,500 rpm and almost 500Nm of maximum torque. We find the 6-speed X-Trac sequential gearbox, four-wheel drive and a weight of 1,230Kg. Ray Breen, father of Craig, Irish national rally champion in 2006 and winner of the Irish Forest series in 2008, took part in the San Marino Rally Legend in 2019. He showed up behind the fantastic MG Metro 6R4 Group B wheel, license plate DI66 WVX. It is one of the 200 road specimens built, and it belonged to Ken Colbert, who later prepared it for racing. This car was owned by Rally School Ireland and is now evidently part of the Breen family's collection of beautiful rally cars. The car is mechanically a jewel; in the rear-mid position, we find the V64V engine; it is a 3.0-litre naturally aspirated V6 designed by David Wood, a former Cosworth employee and capable of developing, in the race configuration, 410bhp at 9,000 rpm/min! The sound is just great, as you can hear in the video. Other features see the four-wheel drive and the 5-speed manual gearbox.

Ho avuto il piacere di filmare i piloti Irlandesi durante le recenti edizioni del Rally Legend di San Marino. Craig nel 2021 ha partecipato con la fantastica Ford Escort Cosworth WRC del 1997 della KMB Motorsport, livrea Bastos, targa R2 MEM, telaio 27. La vettura fu utilizzata da due assi del rallu, Armin Schwarz nel 1997 e Patrick Snjiers nel 1999. Quello che sicuramente la gente non ricordava è quanto incredibilmente potente sia l'anti-lag su quest'auto, oltretutto dotata di due scarichi laterali. Personalmente, assieme alla Fabia WRC, la più "potente" a livello sonoro tra le vetture di quell'epoca. Dotata di motore 4 cilindri 2-Litri Turbo sviluppa 300hp a 5.500 Giri/min e quasi 500Nm di coppia massima. Troviamo il cambio sequenziale X-Trac a 6 rapporti, la trazione integrale ed un peso di 1.230Kg. Ray Breen, padre di Craig, campione nazionale rally Irlandese nel 2006 e vincitore dell'Irish Forest series nel 2008 ha preso parte al Rally Legend di San Marino nel 2019. Si è presentato al volante della fantastica MG Metro 6R4 Group B, targa DI66 WVX. Si tratta di uno dei 200 esemplari stradali costruiti ed è appartenuto a Ken Colbert che l'ha successivamente preparato per gareggiare. Quest'auto è stata di proprietà del Rally School Ireland ed ora evidentemente fa parte della collezione di splendide auto da rally della famiglia Breen. La vettura è meccanicamente un gioiello, in posizione centrale posteriore troviamo il motore V64V, si tratta di un V6 da 3.0-litri aspirato progettato da David Wood, ex dipendente Cosworth e capace di sviluppare, nella configurazione da gara, ben 410bhp a 9.000 Giri/min! Il sound è semplicemente fantastico, come potete sentire nel video. Altre caratteristiche vedono la trazione integrale ed il cambio manuale a 5 rapporti.
