To compress the ball well, your body needs to be preparing for impact earlier than most golfers realize. By allowing the lead shoulder to cover the lead leg and moving cohesively—shifting and turning together—you arrive at the impact line sooner and with more control. Using an alignment stick against the lead hip gives a clear visual of where impact should be and how early you can get there. This creates a smoother transition and much more consistent contact.
