Team USA needed one point to qualify for the quarterfinals. For them, they would need to win in regulation or bring the game to overtime. After Slovakia tied the game up in the last 7 minutes, USA did hold on to force the game to OT and get the one point. They will travel to Moscow were they will take on the #1 seed in Group A, the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals.
