From Viv Anderson becoming the first black player to represent England, Hope Powell completely restructuring women’s football in this country, ensuring female footballers were properly paid, and John Barnes who overcame horrific racist abuse to shine for Liverpool and The Three Lions, these stories need to be covered.

Of course this list couldn’t be complete without mentioning Man City’s Raheem Sterling who has changed the narrative around racism and society, not just football, and Man United’s Marcus Rashford who has helped millions of families in this country struggling with food poverty.
