After two years I was able to see again in action the incredible Ferrari 312 PB, (specifically a 1972 model) piloted by the crew Steven Read/Giovanni Lavaggi during the Classic Endurance Racing at the 2016 Imola Classic. This car is really crazy, built in the early 70s was part of the Ferrari P series of Prototype-Sports Cars but was redesignated as a Group 5 Sports Car for 1972 season due to a change in the regulations. So, in 1971, Ferrari focused on a new 3.0L prototype based on the 180° flat-12 boxer, water-cooling and 4-valve heads engine from the 312B F1 car. This Ferrari was considered fragile in reliability and was difficult to get spare parts but nevertheless in the 1972 season the 312 PB was very successful and won all World Sportscar Championship races in which it was entered. Moving to the technical data we find a 3 liters V12 mid-engine that produced 450 Hp at 11.800 rpm and pushes the car who weigh just 650 kg! I must admit that it was a pleasure and an honor to enjoy the sound of that epic V12 engine in the perfect Imola racetrack acoustic! In my opinion one of the best V12 sound ever! Enjoy the video ;-)

Buona visione ;-)
