Silverstone’s future as British Grand Prix host beyond 2019 was one of the main talking points of the weekend, despite the track considered the home of British motorsport, and where the World Championship began in 1950…

But all that was swept aside - as Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton dominated his home race from lights to flag - for his fifth British Grand Prix win, equalling the tally of world champions Alain Prost and Jim Clark.
