During the majority of the fight Timothy Bradley controlled the fight, he was more active and more effective, and he got the UD win with scores of 116-112, 117-111,115-112 . During the 12th round confusion occurred as referee Pat Russell made the mistake of stopping the fight with a few seconds on the clock after Vargas had landed a good overhand right that had Bradley in problems.
