The Standard Bank Proteas will focus on keeping it simple when they take on the West Indies in the last round-robin match of the Tri-Nation One-Day International (ODI) series at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Friday. The two sides are dead-locked following the rollercoaster results in Guyana and St Kitts, and a win for the Proteas will be an important opportunity to assert their authority on their series following a mixed bag of results over the last three weeks. The success of the attack has been set up by the performances of leg-spinner, Imran Tahir, who is the leading wicket-taker of the series with 13 scalps, his closest competitor is Australia’s Adam Zampa with nine. The batsmen, however, have struggled to convert their solid starts, with the exception of Hashim Amla, who scored the lone century for the Proteas in the big 139-run win against the West Indies in St Kitts. The match will be played on a different pitch to the one used in the match between the West Indies and Australia on Wednesday evening, which makes it vital for the players to adapt as quickly as possible given the unknown factor.
