Zenit Saint Petersburg is the newcomer of the Russian Superleague. It was established in 2017 with the assistance of Gazprom. In its very first season the club became the Vice-Champion of the Russian Championship.

The team includes players and coaches from the Russian national volleyball team. Zenit is now led by Tuomas Sammelvuo (43 y.o., Finnish), Russian team head coach.
