Brisbane, Australia, June 30, 2019 - Defending champions Russia have fine tuned for the finals of the Men’s FIVB Volleyball Nations League with a 3-0 victory over China in Brisbane, Australia.

Russian head coach Tuomas Sammelvuo used the match to rest a number of his key players ahead of the finals in Chicago. This provided valuable game time for the younger players in the squad.

The victory over China completed a clean sweep for the Russians in Brisbane with victories over Australia and Argentina earlier in the weekend.

Russian opposite Denis Zemchenok said: "From this weekend we gained a lot of confidence, we can play better in serve and reception. We did well in the game against China because the coach gave an opportunity to a lot of young players to play today, maybe they were a little bit nervous at the start but they grew in confidence, this is also really important. The five set win over Argentina was also very important for us. This weekend was the last before the finals so it gave us a chance to rest some of our key players.”

Russia finished the preliminary round of 15 matches with 12 wins and 3 losses. China finished 16th with 1 victory and 14 losses.
