The United States Championship ahs been the recipient of bad booking for a while now. Go back to exactly this time last year, we had the likes of Randy Orton, Jinder Mahal and Bobby Roode fighting over it. There was a small glimmer of hope when Jeff Hardy became champion, considering he is one of the most charismatic and over performers in WWE history, but he soon fell to Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura did nothing with the belt for almost 5 months before dropping it to Rusev, who would lose the title back to Nakamura in his first defence. Now R-Truth defeated Shinsuke on the latest episode of SmackDown and then retained against Rusev to become and stay the new US Champion. Why is this?
