Cain Velasquez was the shock debut that was required to cap off a historic night for the WWE. After years of looking at SmackDown as the B Show behind the more powerful legacy brand of Raw, FOX swooped in and decided to hurl over a billion dollars at the WWE for one of the most lucrative contracts in television. This made WWE instantly focus a little more on SmackDown, which we saw with the Brock Lesnar main event for the debut show last week. While the last week may have felt like one of the longest ones in modern wrestling history, we all must accustom ourselves for the next big war in wrestling. AEW brought Jake Hager, but WWE blew them out of the water by securing the services of Cain over their Jacksonville rivals. Cain debuted by attacking Brock Lesnar on behalf of his friend Rey Mysterio. WWE are clearly headed towards a rivalry between the MMA behemoths.
